Highways Heroes are delighted to announce the hosts of this year's blue ribband awards as Rich Marshall, of National Highways and renounced safety speaker Justin Manley.
Returning as lead host for the fourth year in succession, Rich has been at the helm of the glittering ceremony since the inaugural event in 2021.
Joining him for his debut at the event is Justin, owner of Titanium Talks, a renowned speaker who uses his own brush with death to advocate to the workforce which safety on sites is of paramount importance.
Speaking about his excitement at becoming a part of the event Justin said,
"As somebody who for years worked at the coalface of the industry, seeing unsung heroes recognised is absolutely amazing.
"I have followed the growth of the heroes over the years, seeing how it has grown and now to be asked to actually be a part of something so prestigious is an absolute honour.
"When I was approached with the offer to join the hosting team I didn't think twice before saying yes."
Despite that lack of hesitation in agreeing Justin did admit to nerves ahead of his debut,
"As somebody who regualrly tells his own story to hundreds of complete strangers, you would think this would be easy," he added.
"But thats not the same pressure as standing in front of a room on a huge stage and reading from a script whilst in the back of my mind knowing what the evening means to everyone in the room ... well I wouldnt be human if I didn't have butterflies."
Supported by both National Highways the awards are the first time the supply chain and the client body have come together to recognise the value and importance of those unsung heroes we put to work everyday.
Taking place on the 28th November at the London Hilton on Park Lane, the event will be a celebration of those individuals who have gone over and above their job role and really made a difference to their peers and members of the public.
With this in mind and given the ethos of the ceremony was about peer recognition Kevin Robinson organiser of the event said,
“When I first conceptualised an evening which recognised those unsung heroes in our industry I was adamant that the hosts for the evening, and indeed those presenting the trophies had to be captains of our own ship, in short people who those taking pride of place on stage would feel honoured to be recognised and also, crucially that the hosts really understood the works these people carry out every day.
“We could have followed the well trodden path of bringing in a celebrity but to the man or woman receiving the accolade that almost feels a bit empty.
“This approach seemed to be much more relevant, and indeed something which we felt would mean more to those being recognised.”
For those unlucky enough not to have the opportunity to attend the glittering ceremony, full coverage will be published in the days after the event.
