Industry blue ribband event announce that there will NOT be an extension to nominations beyond deadline of 5pm on Friday 23rd June.
Due to the overwhelming number of nominations for this year's Highways Heroes Awards the organisers of the event have announced that, in a break with tradition, there will not be an extension to the deadline for submissions beyond the original deadline of 5pm today, (23rd June 2023).
With in excess of 190 submissions the organisers have reluctantly taken the decision that in this case the deadline will be finite and any submissions received after the allotted time will not be counted towards the judging process.
Judging will take place on the 20th July led by head Judges Rich Marshall of National Highways and Lizz Robinson with all shortlisted individuals notified the following day.
Speaking about the volume of nominations, Kevin Robinson, co-founder of the awards said,
"Every year the Heroes continue to astound me with how our sector takes it to heart and this year has been no exception,
"The growth of the event, even in challenging times is nothing short of astounding, and for that I thank the industry."
"The judging process is always difficult as these are all genuine acts which have a positive impact on the lives of others but the sheer volume of submissions this year make that process all the more difficult."
"This is one of those occasions when I am glad I am the organiser and not a judge of the evening as I think I probably have the easier task."
